What almost everyone asks before joining the gang.
The game
What does the monthly subscription include?
A pack with four 45 ml wine samples, delivery to your door and full access to the tasting game. Everything you need to play and learn without leaving the sofa.
How does the blind tasting work?
The samples arrive at your home and you play from your phone. The game guides you step by step and has a hints section in case you get stuck. Every question is multiple choice. Mind you, sometimes you need a bit of luck.
How do I get into the game?
At play.winegang.es, with the same email you subscribed with. There’s nothing to install, though we recommend adding it to your phone’s home screen.
Do I need to be a wine expert?
No. The game is designed so anyone can play. If you’ve never tasted before, some phases will be harder at first. That’s the point: here you learn by tasting.
Can I play on my own?
Yes. You can also start a gang with your friends to compare scores and compete against other gangs in the team ranking.
How is it scored?
Up to 40 points per wine: 16 for the tasting (sight, nose and palate) and 24 for guessing the grape, country, region and price. The full breakdown is on the game page.
Is there a prize?
Yes: every month there’s a surprise gift for whoever tops the ranking. Ties are broken by who got more of the hard stuff right.
The subscription
How much is it and how do I pay?
The current price is always in the shop. You can pay by card or PayPal.
Can I cancel whenever I want?
Yes, there’s no minimum term. If you cancel after the month has been charged, it takes effect the following month.
What if I can’t play one month?
Let us know at info@winegang.es before the 1st, which is when we send the samples to the lab. If they’ve already arrived and you can’t play after all, write to us and we’ll sort something out.
Can I give a subscription as a gift?
Of course. Email info@winegang.es with the person’s email and put their address in the delivery details.
Are there discounts?
Bring 10 friends and one subscription is free. Buy 10 months and the 11th is free. Ask us at info@winegang.es.
The wines
Which wines are included?
Every shipment is different, with wines from the main producing countries. The average price of a full bottle is between €21 and €25: you might get four €24 wines, or three €5 wines and one €80 wine. Not knowing is part of the game.
Can I choose the wines?
Not on the subscription: the fun is in not knowing. If you organise a private game, we can tailor the selection to your taste and budget.
How do the wines arrive in good condition?
They’re re-bottled in a specialist lab, in aseptic conditions and with argon gas so they don’t oxidise.
How should I store them until the tasting?
In the fridge, or in a wine cooler if you have one. Take them out about ten minutes before tasting so they’re not too cold.
Are they vegan?
Not always: some of the wines aren’t.
I have allergies, can I play?
With caution. When tasting blind you don’t know in advance which allergens each wine contains: sulphites, egg white, casein, lysozyme, gluten (rarely), histamines, chitosan, yeasts… If in doubt, check with your doctor before playing.
Shipping and problems
When do the samples arrive?
The box arrives during the month. The first payment is taken when subscribing, then renewals on the first day of each month.
Do you ship all over Spain?
Yes, to every city in Spain.
My order hasn’t arrived
Write to us as soon as possible. If it’s our mistake, we’ll resend it or you play the following month for free.
A sample arrived broken
Email info@winegang.es with a photo as soon as you can. We’ll replace it or, if there’s no time to play that month, you play the next one free.
Is my payment data safe?
Yes. Payment is made on the bank’s gateway or on PayPal: our website doesn’t store your card details.
